CSX Shenandoah Subdivision
Freelance/Prototypical
Status: ACTIVELY MAINTAINED
The CSX Shenandoah Sub is the current and number one project for AST. Designed as an operable class 1 railroad somewhere in the Eastern to Mid-Eastern United States, the Shenandoah Sub is a part freelance, part prototypical railroad designed mainly based off of the author's location, the Virginian Blue Ridge Mountains. Currently over 10 miles of windy, graded track makes long coal drags groan in agony as they ascend the 2% grade at Horner Cove and highballing-Amtrak trains slow to a crawl around the bends and low clearance areas around Clifton.
There are plans to merge the Green Mountain & Blue River Scenic Railroad with the Shenandoah Sub due to the large size and backstory. We will update our plans for route incorporation as news develops.

Status: POSTPONED
After the abandonment of both Midwestern routes, it was time for a more mountainous trip. The GN & BR is a scenic railroad set in the 1990s during the fall of railroads such as Conrail and Chessie System. It is a 25-mile long single-track trip that takes around 45 minutes to complete, and along the way the rider gets views of vast mountains and blue rivers. It intersects with CSX and Amtrak at Dayton Junction, where passengers can switch trains to get on the Shenandoah Sub.
However, the project proved too much to take on, and it was postponed to make way for the CSX Shenandoah Sub.

After the first version of the SBD was lost in a hard-drive failure, a second edition began construction. Replacing a previous, thoroughly built route was difficult, and progress slowed to a crawl sometime in late 2019. After other projects were taken on, the Sleeping Bear Division was postponed to allow more updated and urgent routes to be finished. There are plans to re-work and redesign SBD 2.0, but it is far-off from being revitalized again.

The NS SBD was a failed project that was abandoned after a hardware crash. It featured over 50 miles of mainline and was set in Northwestern Michigan. Designed primarily as a route to run long trains, it evolved into something much greater before it ultimately was left behind.
